CS 5463 High Performance Machine Learning (Spring 2025, Spring 2026)

  • Taught CUDA programming, data-parallel DNN training on GPU nodes, and the AxoNN framework.
  • Built and deployed a teaching cluster for distributed MPI, CUDA, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and AxoNN.
  • Secured the course's compute as Co-PI on NSF NAIRR Pilot and NSF ACCESS classroom awards.
  • Co-developed the curriculum and surveyed state-of-the-art distributed training methods.

Student research mentoring

Since 2024 I have mentored ten undergraduate and master's students at UTSA on shape similarity search, product quantization and autoencoders for polygon encoding, weighted Jaccard in HNSW graphs, privacy-preserving video processing, and the ScooterLab portal development — including two students from the Alamo Colleges Military City USA / UTSA Summer Undergraduate Research Experience.
